A novel second-order sliding mode control of hybrid fuel cell/super capacitors power system considering the degradation of the fuel cell

This paper aims to design a novel control strategy of single converter hybrid power system including Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) and super capacitors for electric vehicle applications. The objective be addressed in such systems is smooth the current PEMFC considering transient sinusoidal disturbance from load. Moreover, real-time applications, it required ensure operation by taking into account component constraints degradation PEMFC. To achieve these goals, robust nonlinear cascaded voltage loop developed this paper. For inner loop, second order twisting controller with dynamic saturation scheme adopted convergence DC bus its reference value as well attenuate oscillations on current. outer Proportional Integral (PI) anti-windup utilized at desired value. Furthermore, consider controlled system, an estimation model parameters has been provided Cubature Kalman Filter. Comparative Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) tests between proposed traditional two PI controllers performed. results HIL verified effectiveness strategy.
